What you eat matters!

You are what you eat

  • Where does your food come from?

Does what you eat come from a box or package, from your local farmer, or from the perimeter of the grocery store? Knowing where our food comes from, what’s in it (and what’s not) can make a big difference in its nutritional value. I encourage my clients to work towards eating more nutrient dense, whole, unprocessed foods.

  • Eat lots of plants

Fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes are chock full of nutrients and fiber. If you’re not eating a lot of these each day, you’re missing out. Start by adding one additional vegetable or fruit serving per day. Together we can brainstorm how to add more plants to your diet.

  • Healthy fats and protein are important

As we age, protein is essential for maintaining muscle mass, building and repairing muscles and bone, and making hormones and enzymes. Healthy fats give us energy, protect our organs, support cell growth, and help our bodies absorb vital nutrients. To optimize your health, include healthy fats and an adequate amount of protein in every meal.
